Designing with Quartz

Quartz has been one of the favorite materials to design with in the recent years. This could be why you will often see designers carrying around boxes with Quartz samples to show while they select other materials. All though new in the market, it has definitely be able to with stand all the hype. Many colors are possible to be selected from samples as small as a 2″x2″ color swatch. While other will have to be selected from a distributor just like its fellow countertop surface, granite.

Fabrication of Quartz Countertops

If you missed the part of Quartz being a man made product this is the time to learn about it. Majority of Quartz is made with using some parts of natural stone. Anywhere from 40% up to 80%, all depending on the specific brand you may select for your project. These are all questions that you can ask your fabricator or even research online. The rest of the material is using resins or epoxy to give it the possibility to create such a vast amount of colors. With this noted, fabrication is done in a similar fashion as with granite. Diamond tools are used to cut into the slab and again diamond tools are generally used to polish the edges of your new Quartz countertops. Of course, over the course of the years new tools have made it on the market giving the fabricator a more smooth cut as well as easier polishing. We have certainly experimented with a number of products and continue to do so to find the best ones.

Installation Of Your New Quartz Countertops

Installing anything new in your home can be a joyful time. Especially a large investment with a clearly visible outcome such as New Quartz Countertops! This part will definitely be the most exciting. There is really nothing for you to do but to sit back and enjoy.

Most installs will be started in the early morning giving us plenty of time to complete everything in one day. Unless of course your project is very large or will require more detail, we would have told you this during the planning stages of your project. First your Quartz pieces will be brought in one by one, they will set, leveled, glued and then the finalizing touches will be made. Such as installation of your sink, seams – if any, backsplashes – if any and so on. This process is usually seamless and many things may all be happening at once without you even knowing.

After install is completed there will be a short walk through and all details will be addressed and discussed along with documents signed. Then it is fully your turn to enjoy your new space. We always recommend a full 24 hours for the silicone and glues to set before you resume full function of your space. Other than that, Enjoy! 🙂
